gone but not forgotten

Reminiscing today I had to laugh thinking back to the good old days, back to the 80s and 90s, back to fads in middle school, back to saturday morning cartoons...

-the smoggies - very rarely do I come across people who remember this show. I found a picture of them to jog your memory. I thought they were unfreakingbelievable.
-pogs - quickly banned from our school. Apparently the gambling and trading got a bit too much for springbank middle school. I look back fondly on lunch hours in the forum trading my pogs (which were quickly upsold by slammers).
-kabluies - also banned from springbank. Kids were selling the gum that dyed your mouth blue for hours for a buck or more, it was like a grade 5 level drug deal.
-skip-its - I would play with this toy again if I could find it.
-soother necklaces - I was so jealous of all the kids who had them. My mom wouldn't buy them for us because in England they are associated with drug addicts.
-lip smackers - I had a pack of six and wore them all around my neck at the same time. Now that's what I call ultimate coolness.
-neon bike shorts - ya that's right, I had those, my sister and I shared at least four pairs.
-hot loops - more rockin' neon.
-kickers - shoes my Mom used to wear in the 60s brought back into style. Just like so many of our trends.
-breaker high - oh Max, you were so dreamy.
-scrunchies - what were we thinking??
-ninja turtles - how many hours could be dedicated to playing in the sewer acting like turtles with powers? Never enough..
-the first cassette tape I owned - michael jackson dangerous. Oh michael, you are such a creep now.
-M.C Hammer - all the neighborhood kids used to spend hours practicing concerts to show the parents. They must have thought we were nuts.

I could go on forever.

I miss those days..

I know you're only 23.. but this post just made me realize that our age difference might actually have an impact on us. I haven't even heard of the smogs. geeshkibobs!

I remember the Smoggies or Smoggles or whatever they were. I watched it fairly frequently . There were good people on the island and bad people on the big boat with an oil spill and some weird creatures....if I remember correctly.

And Brian the reason you don't remember it is because you were too busy following dad around with your own big boy lawn mower that blew bubbles.

haha yeah true.. I wore out one lawn mower and mom and dad had to buy me another one.

one more to add to the list - slap its.. Somehow these bracelets that snapped onto your wrist provided countless hours of g-rated fun.
