bring it on

although today is a beautiful sunny day, (in which I am honoring as one of the last by wearing my all time favorite camo shorts) I can tell winter is drawing closer by the minute. To celebrate this I give you a short compilation of reasons why I heart winter.

1) first and foremost, snowboarding. At sunshine village you can spend a glorious day on the mountain for a mere $85, what a steal.. Always worth it.

2) roaring fires. The best place for this is my house in Bragg Creek, and since our suite in vic does not have a fireplace I will have to wait until winter break to enjoy this luxury.

3) CHRISTMAS! Which means PRESENTS. I love presents as much as the next person. But really, I love presents more than anyone in the world. Getting them, and also giving them. That's right, I'm a giver.(my sister under the tree christmas morning.. 94 days til we can do this again)

4) an excuse to read a good book inside.

5) getting reacquainted with the cardio equipment at they gym. Although I may not be using the stepper during the summer, I know exactly where that bad boy will be at when I'm ready.

6) various colored lululemon hoodys and my north face vest. Be 95% assured that this is what you can find me wearing on a given day.

7) snow.. which is not common around vic unfortunately, but when it comes I'll be there. Even if it means having a snowball fight at midnight on the street :)

8) changing into pajama pants the second I get home (I do this year-round, but it seems more appropriate when it's cold out).

9) turkey dinner.

10) that cozy feeling you get when it is raining and all you have to do is stay home.

Following my list of things I like I would like to add that I DO NOT like:

1) rain - it ruins my hair.

2) shoes - I'm a flip flop kind-of-gal and winter means they have to go away for awhile.

3) brussel sprouts.

I like winter too. There is Christmas to look forward too, the possibility of snow days (haha right), and snuggling up by the (fake) fire, listening to the rain and wind beat against the windows while we are cozy and warm inside.

I bought a cute new puffy jacket in anticipation of the cold.

Shhh.

Don't tell James.

On the plus side, big mugs of hot chocolate.
On the negative side, dark cold mornings.

2 cents, added.

After just returning from an extremely busy Costco trip, I quickly remembered that I would like to add that I HATE CHRISTMAS SHOPPING!

It's actually not the shopping (cuz I heart shopping), but rather the crowds, the slow walkers, the long lines, the cranky cashiers, etc.

That's always a downer of the winter. However, Morgan and I are going to buy an air hockey table, which totally will help pass all those cold, dark hours!

Christmas lights. Love 'em. My absolute faves in Victoria that you HAVE to check out when 'tis the season are on Beach Drive, right by the Oak Bay Marina. The entire house gets completely covered (read: COMPLETELY COVERED) in white lights. This includes the lawn, the outdoor foliage, and even the inside panes of the windows. Completely excessive? Perhaps. Impressive? Definitely.

I hope he still does this...otherwise, you are in for a disappointing (but short) drive come December.

Krissy,
Yes he still does this and it is AMAZING.

Not last Christmas but the year before, Marshall, Melissa, James and I were on a bit of an adventure and that was our main destination.

Its a work of art.
