optimism at its best

since I have been somewhat of a stress case the past few weeks due to endless assignments and tests I thought today, the day after my hardest test, I will point out some good things that some of us tend to let slip by unnoticed and unappreciated..

1) the fall leaves - find a giant pile and jump in them.. Like we all did when we were little. Forget about the spiders or the fact that it is a stagnant rotting pile, kids don't seem to care and yet they, for the most part, turn out just fine.

2) parents - there is no one quite like them. Who else gets THAT excited when you tell them you got an A on your test. Who else babies you endlessly when you are sick? Who else will buy you things when you go shopping together because they know you can't afford it? Who else wakes us up with fresh muffins and coffee?

3) laughing - there are few feelings in life better than laughing so hard you have tears streaming down your face and you have to force yourself to stop because your stomach muscles are about to explode.

4) the ocean - even after living here for a few years I sometimes find I take it for granted. Next time you see it look out and think of how much life there is under there. It trips me out every time.

5) siblings - some people might not get along with their brothers and sisters that well but it's still a pretty sweet relationship to have. Nobody on earth understands mine and my sister's humour when we're together. If there is anyone who can make me laugh til I cry it is her. Sometimes all it takes is a look. I heart her, and my other siblings as well.

6) beds - and I mean this in the most non-sexual way possible. Go lay in bed and feel how ridiculously comfortable it is. King size, down comforter, and one giant pillow boast well in my books.

7) cell phones - what did we do without them? It may be sad, but it's true, don't fight it. No getting in touch from any corner of the earth, no text messaging during a long boring lecture. Did this world really exist?!

8) music - endless entertainment. A walk across campus hauling a bag full of books is quickly made enjoyable by the power of the ipod. Whatever your mood, there's something for everyone.

9) love - nothing beats it.

10) yourself. It may sound strange but who else is around 24/7? If you can enjoy yourself and appreciate the moments you have alone you are doing good. You can only make a true fool out of yourself and not care when you're alone. Sing off tune at the top of your lungs, dance with no beat, cry and make weird distorted faces, no one is around to judge you!

Life is goooooooooooooooooood my friends!

11) friends - (goes with #3, 7 and 9) We all have those moments when boyfriends/husbands/parents just won't do. You need that friend who will listen and side with you no matter what has happened and no matter how stupid/selfish/silly you are being. They are there to help you stand and catch you when you stumble and to help have as much fun along the way as possible.

Plus it's good to have someone to tell you that yes those jeans do in fact make your ass look big.

Not sure how laughing, cell phones and love have to do with friends--and not your boyfriends/husbands/parents... kelli.

Katie, you've been a different preson since your midterms have been over...especially that math midterm... I prefer the non-stressed katie.

um easy Brian. You talk to you friends on your cell phone, they make you laugh and you love them.

Obvious you need better friends there buddy.

First let me publicly apologize to Brian for my crass and aggressive alcohol induced and influenced response from last night.

All that I meant was:
If I take one of my true friends (let's say Billy), he can make me laugh so hard that I am physically rolling on the ground in pain (a great ab work out PS). He lightens up my day by sending me txts, which usually include one word, 'HOOT', (that would be on my mobile). And thru our friendship and the hours/days/years spent together I do in fact care deeply for him and love him. And yes, he would tell me how my ass looks!

Sure all those things can go with your b/h/p, but they (other than maybe the cell phone) are also major characteristics of my friends, which I was writing about.

I hope I have now significantly removed my foot from my mouth and have restored the blogging peace.
